Information and News
February 1, 2012
Dear Parents,
It is our goal at St. Christopher to provide the best
environment possible for the education of your child. As part of this goal, we need to reinforce
the cell phone policy for our school.
The rise in popularity and use of cell phones by our students has caused
a number of issues in our hallways and classrooms that seriously inhibit the
learning of your child and other students. We recognize cell phones are
important tools for communication between yourself and your child and provide
an added sense of comfort and security especially outside regular school hours
when students are in transit or involved in extra-curricular activities. We are
seeking to establish the responsible use of technology with respect to the
learning environment of school.
Please review
the procedures in place with this policy.
It is important to note that we do have telephones in every classroom
and supervised phones are available to students throughout the day. In the case of an emergency it is appropriate
to contact the school office or administration so we can assist with the
situation. Knowing what is happening
will give us an opportunity to provide the assistance and supports necessary to
ensure that your child will be able to respond in a safe way.
Beginning semester two, February 6th, 2012,
students will be required to leave the school building to use cell phones. No cellphone use will be permitted in
classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, gymnasium, library and washrooms during the
school day. (8:00AM - 2:10PM).
We trust that you will find this policy to be beneficial to
the educational environment for your child while still providing you with the
opportunity to contact your child during the school day.

Important Notice to Parents/Guardians
Insurance for Students Who Participate in Extra-Curricular Sports
September 2010
Dear Parent/Guardian:
I want to make you aware of an important new policy of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board, which affects all students, who wish to participate in extra-curricular sports activities.
Under Policy 3.20 – Student Accident Insurance, which was passed by the Board of Trustees in August 2010, all students who participate in extra-curricular sports activities, either at school or organized by the school, must have coverage under an accident and life insurance policy. This coverage may be purchased by the parent/guardian under a personal family plan obtained privately; or, through the Reliable Life Insurance Company. For more information about the Reliable Life Insurance Company, please see the information attached to this letter, or visit the company’s website at www.insuremykids.com Although the plan offered by the Reliable Life Insurance Company is facilitated by the St. Clair Catholic District School Board, the Board assumes no responsibility for the cost of the plan, applications, premium payments or claims; nor does the Board receive any remuneration from the carrier. Only those students, whose parents/guardians have signed a declaration which states the student is insured either by a private plan, or by the plan offered by the Reliable Life Insurance Company, will be permitted to participate in extra-curricular sports. The declaration form is attached to this letter. Please return completed forms to the school office.
Although insurance coverage is mandatory for students who participate in extra-curricular sports activities, accidents can happen anywhere and at any time. The Board urges all parents to consider the purchase of insurance, to ensure adequate coverage of children at school.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Mr. Brendan Deery Principal The declaration form is attached to this letter. Please return completed forms to the school office. |
